The story takes place about 20 years after the first film. Miranda Priestly tries to save Runway magazine amidst the collapse of traditional print journalism. Meanwhile, her former assistant Emily is now a powerful executive at a luxury group, creating a new direct clash between the two, as Emily controls vital advertising budgets for the magazine. Andy Sachs returns to the game as Runway's special features editor after being fired from her previous job.
